Are you excited about getting ready for a fun day at the beach? If you’re planning a day at the beach, it’s important to make sure you pack everything you need to be completely prepared to enjoy your beach day. There is a lot that goes into packing a beach bag and it is essential to pack a bag that takes care of all your needs, and anything unexpected. Once you're comfortable on the lounge chair, the last thing you’ll want to do is make the trek back to your hotel room or car for a needed and forgotten item. Read on to learn how to pack the perfect beach bag.
Pick the Right Bag
You can use anything from a large tote bag to even a backpack, depending on how much you’re planning to pack. Whether you need a water-resistant bag or a bag with lots of compartments, there’s a bag that’s right for you. You should note that water and sand will likely get into bag so it may not be a good idea using your everyday bag. Consider a large water resistant tote bag if you’re going to the beach in a group as you will be carrying more essentials than you would if you were going alone.
Protective Sunscreen
One thing I’m sure we’ve all had a bad experience with - Sunburn. Preparing for a hot, sunny day at the beach with preventative measures to safely go out in the sun will help build on a great day. Your first priority should be to pack some sunscreen in your beach bag. An SPF 30 or higher is recommended, and look for a brand that offers coverage against both UVA and UVB rays for the most effective protection. Sun protection shouldn’t just end at sunscreen, but also includes cover-ups, hats, and sunglasses. These preventative should help you be more comfortable when out at the beach on hot, sunny day.
Clothing
You should also take a hat, a change of clothes, a bathing suit (unless you’re planning to wear it to the beach) and sandals. You may want to pack a jacket too depending on the weather if forecasts show any likelihood of rain later in the day. It can get a bit chilly towards the evening so packing a sweatshirt or something light is advised.

Essentials
Be sure to roll up a quick-dry towel for your day at the beach as well as a large sheet if you’re planning on visiting the beach for long hours. Packing some lightweight sandals could also prove to be very important especially on a warm day as afternoon heat can make walking barefoot on the sand unbearable.
Entertainment
Whether you love a good book on the beach, or if you prefer music or podcasts, make sure you pack some entertainment for yourself to let loose under the sun. The beach is also a perfect place for physical activities like frisbee or volleyball. Some fun toys & games for the kids could make your day a whole lot more peaceful.
